Job Specification
BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION
Performs Installation, maintenance and repairs of appliances for over 91 US Government owned (GO) and 215 plus short term leased properties in accordance with established industry standards in support of the residential maintenance program, and a 16 acre Embassy compound with 10 buildings totaling 540,000 Sq feet of floor space supporting USAID /STATE tenants totaling over 1200 FSN personnel and over300 US Embassy families. Duties include ensuring appliances and associated components are electrically and mechanically compatible with systems at installation location. Conducting preventive maintenance requirements in accordance with established maintenance procedures and recommendations. Provide troubleshooting and diagnostic service, using relevant electrical tools and testers. Generate inspection report reflecting condition of appliances.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Under general supervision, the incumbent installs, services and repairs electrical and mechanical components for appliances such as washing machines, clothes dryers, dishwashers, stoves, ovens, refrigerators, freezers, garbage compactors and disposals, electric heating appliances, water heaters and various motor-driven small appliances. 50%
Performs preventive maintenance on appliances to ensure safe operating condition and uses electrical appliance tools and testers to determine condition of electrical wiring and associated components. 20%
Troubleshoots and diagnoses malfunctions in appliances by using available literature from manufacturers such as manuals and drawings. Additionally conducts internet research for replacement parts and related safety updates. 20%
Completes work orders and detailing related labor and materials data for maintenance and repairs based on the nature of the customer’s request and depending on the type of appliance to be maintained. 10%

- Sister or brother (including stepsisters and stepbrothers, or adoptive sisters or brothers) of the employee, or of the spouse, when such sibling is at least 51 percent dependent on the employee for support, unmarried, and under 21 years of age, or regardless of age, incapable of self-support.

4. Member of Household (MOH): An individual who accompanies a direct-hire Foreign, Civil, or uniformed servicemember permanently assigned or stationed at a U.S. Foreign Service post or establishment abroad, or at an office
of the American Institute in Taiwan. An MOH is:
- Not an EFM; and,
- Not on the travel orders of the sponsoring employee; and,
- Has been officially declared by the sponsoring USG employee to the COM as part of his/her household.
outside the Department’s current legal and statutory definition of family member. A MOH does not have to be a U.S.
Citizen.
5. Not Ordinarily Resident (NOR) – An individual who:
- Is not a citizen of the host country; and,
- Does not ordinarily reside (OR, see below) in the host country; and,
- Is not subject to host country employment and tax laws; and,
- Has a U.S. Social Security Number (SSN).
6. Ordinarily Resident (OR) – A Foreign National or U.S. citizen who:
- Is locally resident; and,
- Has legal, permanent resident status within the host country; and,
- Is subject to host country employment and tax laws.
