The Challenge:
We are looking for an energetic finance professional to assist us in laying the foundation for the growth of our organisation linking the operational and administrative side of our business in one of the more beautiful but also challenging places to work on a daily basis.
Your concrete workload will include:
• End responsibility for financial administration of Matemwe Bungalows Ltd, a legal entity based in Zanzibar with Matemwe Bungalows & Retreats, a 34 bed, USD 1.5mn+ revenue, high end beach lodge with close to 100 permanent staff.
• Matemwe has its own accounting team of 2 assistant accountants and 1 Finance Manager (the vacancy).
• The responsibilities includes:
o Daily controls (petty cash recon, bank recon, monthly inventory recon, purchasing, payroll, local revenue daily check, etc.)
o Monthly integrity checklist (see checks above) o Inventory management and quantity control o Monthly management reporting cycle & reporting (as per group standards)
o Tracking of capital expenditures & maintenance / equipment expenses; support of general manager and maintenance manager in annual budget management
o Cash management & forecasts
o Supplier matters (handling issues and improving terms and conditions)
o Tax matters (with support from central functions)
o External audit(s)
o Banking relationships Zanzibar
o IT matters Matemwe
• Assistance in long term simplification of Group administration
• (Long term) staffing of Matemwe finance department
• Legal and secretarial matters Matemwe Bungalows Limited
You will be based in Zanzibar on a 6 weeks on, 2 weeks off schedule.
Directly reporting to the CFO the position is expected to become available around July 2012.

• Bcom in Finance with Kenya ACCA, CPA or equivalent
• Minimum 7 years in the Finance field with demonstrable experience in Finance Management
• Fluent in oral and written Business English with Swahili an advantage
• Advanced & proven Excel skills
