IDLO seeks a Program Officer based at its Kenya Field Office in Nairobi. The Consultant will be responsible for program implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of the DANIDA, USAID and SIDA funded program - “Supporting the Kenyan Constitutional Implementation Process”.
The Consultancy is expected to last for a period of eight (8) months with the possibility of extension contingent upon satisfactory performance and availability of funds. IDLO seeks a Program Officer with a true interest and passion for the Organization’s mission as well as for the importance of its operations in Kenya. The candidate will have a demonstrated experience in program management tools and terminology, and a minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in administration of grant funded development programs. Familiarity with results-based management concepts and tools is essential.
The ideal candidate will have experience in the governance/rule of law sector and proven knowledge of the Kenyan political system and the relevant institutions.
The Program Officer must have excellent communication skills, particularly in translating or discussing complex information tailored to a variety of audiences. She/He will also possess a strong work ethic, excellent organizational skills, cultural sensitivity and interpersonal skills to interact effectively with colleagues and program stakeholders, as well as foster relationships based on mutual respect and trust. Ability to work in a team and multitask is necessary.
A University degree in social sciences, or a related field, is required. Fluency in written and spoken English is required. Fluency or a strong working knowledge of Swahili languages is advantageous.
Experience working in East Africa, and especially in Kenya, is highly desirable. The successful candidate will be required to commence immediately.
