As Water Programs’ Analyst, you’ll be using data to help guide the direction of charity: water’s global water portfolio.
Responsibilities. You’ll be in charge of developing our data models and interpreting the results they show. We want to use solid data to drive the direction of our organization, and you will be at the center of it. This will include: 1. Develop a data model around country selection and analyze resulting data to help inform the direction of charity: water’s 2015 plan. 2. Develop a data model around grantee selection and analyze resulting data to help inform the direction of charity: water’s 2015 plan. 3. Collect robust data on the full cost of ensuring that one person receives improved water supply over time. This will need to be disaggregated by technology type, country, and grantee. 4. Review budgets and progress reports to ensure that grantees are in line with best practice.
Must Haves. 1. 3-5 years direct experience in development finance and budgets, preferably in the water, sanitation, and hygiene sector, though related fields (public health, rural development, etc.) will be considered. 2. Demonstrated skills in data analysis, 3. Excellent communication skills – spoken and written 4. Demonstrated competency in working across cultures 5. A bachelor’s degree and more than 2 years direct experience.
Skills. You’ve been around and know the WASH sector.
You’ve seen the complexities of providing clean water to people, and understand how strong data can make complex situations clear. You’ve built budgets, reported on actuals, and analyzed the results to see how to accomplish results better, faster, cheaper.
You’re up to date on new developments. The WASH sector is constantly evolving, and you know what’s going on. You keep abreast of research in WASHCost and development statistics.
You define yourself as analytical, have superb attention to detail and are driven by data. Excel is the natural home for you, and you enjoy using it to dig as deep as you can to find answers. You like using the information to help others visualize trends and determine how best to achieve results.
Location. The assignment is based in New York City, with limited domestic and international travel.
