Main responsibilities:
• Lay the basis for key countries to implement national low carbon and climate resilient plans, strategies and policies• Ensure effective coordination with and amongst the key countries to enhance their work on low carbon development and participation in GCEI’s National Low Carbon Frameworks programs and activities;
• Initiate Research and Analysis that strengthen WWF’s ability to influence these countries
• Establish and maintain a learning platform for national frameworks internally as well as with external partners
• Initiate capacity building programs and activities
• Participate in LCF team meetings as well as GCEI core team meetings
• Represent WWF in relevant high-level discussions and meetings with governments, NGO partners and other stakeholders where appropriate
• Provide thought leadership in the field of low carbon development
• Strengthen existing partnerships as well as build new ones
• Ensure effective communication and exchange of information both internally and externally
• Implement any other activities as agreed with the Head: Low Carbon Frameworks
What you need:
Required Qualifications • University or an equivalent degree in a relevant discipline such as development economics, political science, law,
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in policy development
• Excellent knowledge of climate policy issues and economics – with a specific focus on low-carbon development policies and its nexus with sustainable development especially in developing countries.
Required Skills and Competencies:
• Excellent research skills and the ability to analyse and process complex information and communicate this in an easily understood way;
• Good leadership and coordination skills with proven success in working as part of a global virtual team;
• Excellent interpersonal, negotiation and lobbying skills;
• Strong written and verbal communication skills; experience in presentations and media interviews an advantage;
• Excellent command of English. Plus knowledge of other languages a bonus;
