PURPOSE OF THE POSITION:
Provide skills in performing complex and difficult tasks in order to provide CRS South Sudan Program comprehensive Logistical support for the operation of the CRS South Sudan Program, as a supportive member of the multi-cultural Management Quality team.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Circulate and maintain logistics strategy, systems and policies ensuring staff are well informed and regular feedback is provided.
• Maintain and improve systems, which are required for standard transportation practices.
• To arrange transportation needs as per the approved policies and procedures of the organization from/to the final destination.
• Loading and picking up cargo at the airport and other sites as per shipment requirements.
• Assist in the preparation of duty free clearance documents for Country Representative’s signature and send with agent and ensure collection of items from customs.
• Collect and deliver custom’s documents at airport and customs main office in Juba, Nadapal/ Kapoeta, Nisitu and Juba Bridge.
• Collect returned waybills from the field and ensure mails are picked and dropped at the airport and other points on time.
• Coordinate with field offices in Bor, Torrit and Nimule about transportation of commodities/equipment and timely delivery to receiving parties.
• Connect and coordinate with Nairobi/Kampala office on shipment of commodities purchased in Kenya/Uganda.
• Assist and participate in preparation of requests for bids and terms and conditions for transportations companies hired for CRS SS needs.
• Provide logistical assistance in coordination and support required for CRS hosted trainings, workshops and program meetings.
• Collect field supplies from vendors and ensure they are loaded.
• Closely monitor every delivery from supplier to beneficiary and actively engaged to organize smooth delivery of cargo to the receiving party.
• Provide logistical assistance to the Procurement team, arranging for transport of materials to field locations and assisting the storekeeper to receive materials in Juba as and when required.
• To perform certain duties designated by the management if and when need arises.
Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor degree in Logistics and Procurement or related field from an accredited College or University.
Five years of progressive experience in logistics management/administration, with international NGOs.
Relevant and proven knowledge of fleet management and vehicle maintenance.
Knowledge of customs and immigration processes in South Sudan.
Good interpersonal skills and ability to interact effectively with staff, vendors, outside agencies, general public, government officials
Ability to work with a multicultural team
Good communication skills including the ability to make clear and concise presentations.
Ability to make sound decisions in a manner consistent with the essential job functions.
Ability to operate assigned equipment and write reports
Excellent computer skills (MS Word, Excel).
